A sketch from a photo I took. I loved to do photo shoots. I haven't kept in touch with the people in them, and didn't get official model releases, or I'd share some of them. Some of them are great photos. Some of them are seriously sucky but hilarious.
Drawing birch trees and red-headed dryads has stuck with me...
I drew hundereds of random, half-finished faces like this.
Healing has always fascinated me. I love themes of healing in stories and art.
I actually rather like this piece. I may go back to this idea. Maybe digitally.
I'm pretty sure I copied this - or parts of it. I don't know where it came from, but you can see I have a long ways to go in terms of color and lighting. (Still do, for that matter...)
Ah... Hybrid. After the holt, Hybrid was going to be my Next Big Project. A big, thick, juicy 'zine... with fantasy, and science fiction and lots of illustration and a full color cover and all these neat *features.* Well, it had the same problem most of these projects do - no submissions. I wasn't (quite) willing to put out a 'zine of just myself. I'm prolific, but not THAT prolific, and besides, it would have been boring and narcassistic. This was my idea for the first cover. Her hairy ears make me shudder.
I loved drawing mermaids because I didn't have to do legs.
I was SO incredibly proud of this piece. It's a copy - from a sketch by Michael Whelan, I'm pretty sure...
More self-portraits. Couldn't figure out what I wanted to do with my life at that point.
More realistic self-portrait.
Oh, the angst...
