Hello February!

A new issue of EMG-Zine is up: http://emg-zine.com

Our theme for the month is 'Tigers,' and although we're low on fiction and artwork this month, we've got some great art tips - both the business end and the creative end!

And on the topic, EMG-Zine has been nominated for a Rose and Bay award: vote here!

Remember that today is the last day to submit 'dance' themed work for March! http://emg-zine.com/guidelines.php

On February 9, Torn World is hosting a Muse Fusion at our livejournal community: http://community.livejournal.com/torn_world/ - stay tuned for more details!

On February 14, Fantastic Portfolios is hosting a chat at our chatroom. Topics will include the developing commission-control.com project, as well as WIP discussion, licensing talk and general art stuff. I'd love to see you there! You do not need to be an EMG or Fantastic Portfolios member, anyone is welcome.

Business as Usual

I already posted all of this news, I think. Scroll back a post.

Art and Authoring

Slow on this front. I've been writing a story by hand, a few lines at a time each night before bed. This is a very, very slow way to write. I like the story, but it doesn't flow well yet. At all. Hopefully the transition to electronic will improve it. I get really excellent ideas for lines at inappropriate times, like while I'm driving, and they are gone when I got to write them down.

Home, Health and Weather

Zero today. No degrees.

I woke up with a cough, but I think it was just a random piece of poorly placed phlegm, because it went away quickly.

I love my new closet. And the new light. Very pleased with those efforts.

Got a freelance coding project to finish tonight. I think I will squeeze in some Torn World coding before tackling project #2, but not much, because I want to get moving on that, too. Jake is having a manly 'Band of Brothers' night. I am waffly about going to Open Studio for bellydancing.

And one roar...

My windshield cracked this morning. I got a chip on Friday in the lower left, and this morning, driving into work, there was a mild 'kersnap' sound and I watched it spread from a teeny finger to halfway across my field of view in the space of about 5 minutes. I picked up my boss at the auto shop, and by the time we got to work it had curved back down and split all the way to about an inch from the far corner of the window. Pretty incredible to watch, actually. And it sings when it does so, just barely.

Fascinating in a materials science way and RARHG$%&*@#@**!!! in a "That's my BRAND NEW CAR" way.
