We went swimming this morning, a general open swim rather than an actual class, and it went about as well. Some 'no's, some giggles and splashing. Good practice, mostly. There was just one other kid and mom there, aside from the lap swimmers - the girl was 3-almost-4, and a very good swimmer. Also, very chatty. My social glass* is quite full now, thank you little girl.
I'm teaching Guppy to say "I'm tyrannical." I think this will be hysterical and is quite accurate.
Today as we were driving and I was changing radio stations, she told me, "Stop pushing buttons! Just drive!" Later, at a stoplight, she told me to stop singing. "Can I dance?" I asked her, bopping along to a song. She fixed me with a steely look. "You shouldn't."
When we stopped to visit Papa at work, there were a few other people in his office. "People have to get out now!" she announced, coming to the doorway, but not daring to come in.
*To be fair, my social glass is more like a shot glass. A Barbie shot glass, maybe. Once, several years ago, Jake asked me if I'd gotten out of the house in the last week. I thought about it carefully. "I went to the dump last weekend! There was another truck there. That was enough social interaction for me."
