Driving home today after therapy and a workout, I noticed that the lane of traffic to my right was at a dead halt up in front of me, though my lane was quite free. I also noticed that the car just ahead and to my right did not notice and was going at such a speed that there was no way that they were going to come to a safe stop, just as they slammed on their brakes. I had enough time in those few mental frames to verify that there was no one behind me that was going to rearend me, and came to a dead stop as the other driver completely lost control of their vehicle and spun into my lane - exactly where I would have been if I had not stopped. At that area of the road, I would have been shoved right into a stream of oncoming rush hour traffic.
They managed to juuuuuuust avoid the car in front of them during their rotation and end up completely perpendicular across both of our lanes. After a moment in which I thought to turn on my hazards, they managed to rodeo out over the curb they were facing, and traffic moved forward again with no casualties.
Between the fact that I am still shaking like a leaf and Jen has temporarily and unexpectedly lost her home Internet connection, the February issue of EMG-Zine may not be up until later tomorrow morning. This will be the second issue in five years that is late. I'm going to try not to feel guilty about that, and go have a giant cup of hot cocoa and sit in front of my peaceful fire for a while.
Also, BLIZZAKS ROCK. There is still ice on the roads there from the ice storm, and my Tina came to a perfect, controlled stop, without so much as a wiggle, on an absolute dime.
